    Gypsy Software Distribution



    Gypsy is implemented in pure Java and uses JDK 1.2. Therefore it runs on every platform where JDK 1.2 is available. Gypsy is developed under the GNU General Public License and can be downloaded with full source.

    Software Requirements

    Gypsy consists of the following packages:
    Gypsy-support 0.5-14
    Contains third-party software used in the Gypsy project.

    Gypsy 0.5-46
    Contains the core system package.


    Runtime Requirements

    For using or trying Gypsy the following software must be installed:

    Please read the GNU General Public License before you download this software.

    The Gypsy package can be received by choosing the appropriate release:

    Development releases (CVS version)

    Contains the development source, the prebuilt jars and the documentation in the following formats:

    • Gypsy-X.X-X.tar.gz: generic package
    • Gypsy-X.X-X.zip: generic package

    Please read the Development Release Installation Guide for installing the package and the Gypsy Development Guidelines.

    Since Gypsy is work in progress, its changing very fast. Instead of providing new packages for every minor release we decided to enable download by checking out the actual source code from a CVS server.

    Runtime releases (Sorry, currently only development version available)

    Contains the runtime environment and the documentation in the following formats:

    • Gypsy-X.X-X.noarch.tar.gz: generic package
    • Gypsy-X.X-X.noarch.zip: generic package
    • Gypsy-X.X-X.noarch.pkg: Solaris package
    • Gypsy-X.X-X.noarch.rpm: RPM (Red Hat package manager) package

    Please read the Runtime Release Installation Guide for installing and Getting Started for configuring and running Gypsy applications.
