Introduction

In today's systems' landscape devices are increasingly becoming smaller, faster and are always connected to a network. These properties lead to a situation where the information systems have to operate in open dynamic infrastructures. The constituents of such systems, people and software services, are being integrated into evolving “solutions“. Often they fulfill critical societal missions. This requires novel techniques to support the customization, self-management, and optimization of pervasive services and infrastructures to deal with the rapid change and the high dynamics of both, user needs and underlying environments. In such pervasive environments, people dynamically and actively collaborate with each other. In some aspects, the roles of end-users and developers are indistinguishable as end-users can mash services up to build complex processes suitable for themselves. Still techniques to support mashup and user participation, and to seamlessly integrate human and software services into pervasive environments and utilize them in complex collaborative processes are not well supported.

The Autocomp team aims at addressing several research blocks that deal with the above-mentioned challenges by building tools, middleware and methodologies for:

The outcome of the Autocomp research is domain-independent as well as domain-specific such as collaborative processes and tools for SME, disaster management, and distributed health.
