Short CV

He is currently working as a post-doctoral researcher at Vienna University of Technology. He received his Ph.D. degree in September 2008 at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, China. His research interests include Pervasive and mobile computing, Self-adaptive systems Context-aware computing, Service-oriented architecture.

Research Interests

  • Personalized smart environments—Pervasive environments are user-centric, featuring a number of devices, rich user context and diverse user preferences. It is a big challenge to continuously provide the most needed services to users in response to ever-changing situation. To this end, we have established a theoretical model—Hyperspace Analogue to Context (HAC)—to capture the changes of user context, available services, and user preferences, and proposed a proactive service discovery algorithm. However, more challenging problems are gaining our attentions, such as reasoning on user intentions in different situations.
  • Context-aware programming—In the last years context modelling, context management, and context reasoning have been intensively investigated. Strong similarities can be observed in the architecture and functionalities of proposed context-aware systems, prompting us to review context-aware systems as a software family and apply novel programming models to develop context-aware applications. We have built a prototype of context provisioning middleware and a textual DSL (Domain-specific Language) to support generative development of context provisioning schemes. More work is expected along this line to improve the capability and expressiveness of the DSL, and to establish a more efficient approach to context-aware application development.
