The goal of this course is to examine advanced concepts in distributed systems research that are strongly relevant to the PhD research plan of first year doctoral students in the area of distributed systems. In this course, we discuss theoretical foundations, technologies, architectures, standards and examples of recent developments to support students to identify their specific research directions and to develop their PhD research plan in the area of distributed systems. The course is highly customized for a limited number of PhD students in the area of distributed systems. Both specific discussion for individual participants and general discussions for the whole participants will be held, ensuring that an individual research plan will be developed, while all participants will benefit from the knowledge exchanged by others.
This is designed for PhD students in the Vienna PhD School of Informatics who plan to conduct his/her research in the domain of service-oriented computing, distributed systems, cloud computing, and automomic computing. Here is the course information in the TISS.
